What number is missing ?
823543 46656 3125 256 … 4 1
I think second one is much simpler for people with math aligned skills or engineers while first one is more think out of the box type of problem.

As far as formula goes, I do not know it and I'm not sure it can ebe easily found.
Here is an interesting question - can any didgit repeat more then 9 time in a sequence? (Then next number will have to represent it like 10+)
